Information on the internet is not safe at all. Everyone can come and access it from any computer with internet access. To protect ourselves, it would be wise to stop and think about what we are going to post on our blogs and social media sites.

What I think hackers want are attention. Why I think people hack are because they are lonely and needs to try and do something big to be noticed. Hacking has changed through the years from people who are hacking to show off, to people who will be forever alone and thus hack to cause damage and get attention, as in being shown on the front page of the newspaper for being arrested.

The government should be allowed to hack to a certain degree. What I think the government should be allowed to hack are mainly companies as private websites/blogs/social profiles contain private information and that if they do want to hack them, they would need a warrant.

I think that in the future, hacking would be practically the same and that they would still be only able to affect computers. Although it could only affect computers, hacking could still affect military computers and the like. Hacking could also be a huge part of war where hackers can attempt to hack an opposing military force and try to make them use their weapons against themselves.

I can't really say what hackers want. Everyone does things for different reasons, but from what we know of, it seems that most of them want money, because money is able to solve a lot of problems that we face daily. This reason has changed a lot throughout the years. A few decades ago, hackers only wanted to hack for challenges and to help others, but it has evolved more and more from a hobby and into an art that has been perfected, perfected to be used to break into security systems where the information obtained can be used for many things. The government shouldn't be allowed to hack to keep us safe because if hacking is the only way to keep us safe, then it will never be stopped. So the government should find a way to protect us without involving hacking, because a lot of us also have information that is valuable and important. Luckily, I have never experienced having my data and passwords being compromised online. In the future, I think hacking will be much more difficult to stop and its targets won't just be computers and laptops, they might even be robots, because right now robots are being made and a lot of progress has been made in the field of robotics, so what's to say that hackers won't hack robots? Right now there are already sensors that can hack into credit cards when you just hold them along the card, so maybe sticking a small USB of some sorts can automatically hack the computer and laptop, which would be a real problem. The group ANONYMOUS is a hacktivist group who's goal is to protest against any sort of internet censorship, and sort of are the internet's "freedom fighters". They accomplish their goals by hacking into government websites and various other websites to prove their point, and its not just government websites, any project or group that they believe is committing or supporting internet censorship, they hack and protest. They are famous for the Pirate Bay, Megaupload, hacking into government websites, the occupy movement, helping get rid of an internet pedophile, taking out religious organizations, attacking Israel, attacking Syria, and other cyber attacks that they commit because they believe that the government of that area or an organization is treating people unjustly or censoring the internet.

Most of our files in the internet can never be called safe since we can never be sure about intelligent hackers who managed to crack any kind of code and do whatever they want with our information. This can cause serious problem since not only can hackers annoy you with the fact that you have been hacked, they can also do anything with it such as sending weird emails to your contacts, stealing your money from your bank, posting weird things on the internet under your name, and basically make your life suck. We should protect ourselves better by making our password hard to guess by making it long, and change it frequently to be safe. There are a lot more things that you can do although I'm not really sure.
From reading the article above, I can conclude that hackers are a unique bunch of people who hack into a computer system with varying purposes. Some hack into a system to improve it and make it better for everyone. In fact, hacking starts out as a positive hobby where hackers only hack into a system to show off their tech skills, but throughout the ages, we started hearing the fact that they started hacking to steal money from banks. From a simple hobby, hacking have turned into a serious crime.
We all know that hackers these days don't usually have good intentions which is why I think that letting the government hack me is not really a good thing and I strongly disagree with this. Even if they hacked us to protect us, there would always be a chance for wrong people to misuse the right that the government have and start destroying people's life with it. Although I personally have never been hacked in my whole entire life, I'm not going to risk being hacked by hackers through the government.
Sure hackers can hack through personal computers, corporate systems and the government but I think it would be even more devastating since hacking would probably be more advanced and might even start a war. In the future people probably would hack into anything from security cameras, to vending machines probably.
To answer the questions about anonymous, I have researched a few things about them and I have learned that they have called themselves hacktivists who strongly opposes internet censorship and surveillance because they believe in the open and free internet. From what I have gathered from the research, it seems that their reasons are just and I agree with them but I find their methods a bit extreme. I don't think that shutting down an entire site just because it have stated something that disagrees with your ideals is a proper solution. I think anonymous are too violent in their campaign against internet censorship since I am sure there are more peaceful ways to protest against censorship although I don't really know how. One of their extreme actions include attacking the International Federation of Phonographic Industry, taking down sites of the DOJ and the FBI, attacking the church of scientology, and attacking various government's website as long as the site have done something related to internet censorship or unwanted surveillance.

The Internet is undoubtedly perilous and to protect ourselves from possible danger, we should practice habits such creating and remembering safe passwords, not posting vulnerable information on public websites and not responding to spam email as they may contain content utilized by hackers for phishing and pharming purposes. Varied hackers commonly have separate needs and desires, which is why there are both good and bad hackers. Good hackers may also be viewed as bad hackers because it is common for the government to oppose hacktivists. Bad and malicious hackers are usually those who use their hacking skills for the purposes of criminality and delinquency such stealing money from bank accounts or manipulating online shopping discounts. I firmly believe that the government should have the authority to hack into our personal account even if they are doing it in the interest of safety because it will result in the obstruction of our privacy. People should be able to have self protection and only allow the government or other tech companies permission to hack for safety if it is their desire. Unfortunately, I have had quite a few minor mishaps as I used to be quite into hacking and a friend of mine planted a Trojan virus onto my laptop through a social messenger software. It did not leas to any damage, but I was quite annoyed. I think hacking will undoubtedly grow into a way of life and if it starts to present more job opportunities, colleges can give courses to create better hackers that will be useful to the environment. I've known about the hacktivist group "ANONYMOUS" for some time now as I have been following their twitter. Their goals are basically to uncover dirty secrets that the government or any other authority figures have.

How safe is information on the internet? What can we do to protect ourselves?
Internet is definitely not the safest place to put informations on. Anyone can have access to the internet and anyone can download files that have already been uploaded onto the internet. The most basic thing that anyone can do to protect themselves is by having a complicated passwords with symbols and numbers. Log out from all your accounts after you're done dealing with it. Be careful on what you download. Sometimes, people tend to download form an unknown source and it can be dangerous as it can contain unwanted viruses.

What do you think hackers want? How has it changed throughout the years?
There are a lot of think that hackers want. One of which is blackmailing someone and also stealing someone's ideas. Hacking has been getting worse and worse each day. When hacking just started, it was just for fun and who knew anything big will happen.

Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?
No. They should not do "hack" to another person computer to keep people safe. If they are able to gain access to another person's computer, everyone would probably think it's fine to do the same thing.

Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have. NO.

Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only target computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?
As time goes, hacking has gone from bad to worse and obviously, it's not getting better. To these days, people still hacks. Even today, facebook had been targeted by hackers.

1. How safe is information on the internet? What can we do to protect ourselves?

Information on internet is NOT SAFE AT ALL. It can be accessed by everyone else and can lead you to being hacked. There are things we can do to protect ourselves from being hacked, such as, changing your passwords (have one that is not easy to be guessed) from time to time, not revealing too much information about ourselves online, not talking to strangers online and don't go to websites that can potentially bring virus to your computer and gain private information from your computer because it can bring you serious trouble.

2. What do you think hackers want? How has it changed throughout the years?

I think what hackers want is to have profit (money, recognition, etc) from hacking. Hacking gives them power to control everything they hacked. I think it changed to be worse by each year because comparing the type of hackers we had then and now, I have to say hackers have become more intelligent and more sophisticated which leads to much more serious crimes committed by hacking.

3. Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?

No, I don't think so. Hacking is a crime that no one, even the government can commit. People should have privacy with their information in their computer and I don't think it is the government's business to be messing around with its citizens' computers

4. Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have.

No I haven't experienced it yet. But one thing we can prevent this from happening is to be safe online.

5. Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only target computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?

I think hacking would be far much greater in the future than now. I believe that hacking will soon target not only computers and laptops but also traffic light system in countries and nuclear power plant like the Stuxnet virus had. There is also a possibility that cameras and other digital devices can be hacked because hacking is becoming more common by each year and it has been developing vastly and become more advanced by time to time.

Do some research on a ‘Hacktivist’ group called ANONYMOUS. What are their goals? How do they accomplish them? What are some (in)famous things they have caused?

ANONYMOUS is a online group that is widely recognized for opposing anti- cyber surveillance and censorship. It has hacked several websites and have led protests. Their goals are to do what they (members of ANONYMOUS) feel have to be done without wanting any recognition. They accomplish this by hacking to several government's sites, using Internet as a tool for protest and launching attacks. Some of the things that they have done infamously are hacking several UK's government websites because online surveillance and launching an DDoS attack against International Federation of Phonographic Industry because The Pirate Bay's owners were found guilty of copyright infringement. They had also created videos protesting against the Church of Scientology and planned to attack Israel and shut down Syrian government websites. Cyber attacks is the most common thing they have done.

In my opinion I think that internet is not safe. When we access to social network, stranger and hacker can also access too, which means that we don't even know if they are good or bad persons. People sometimes get trapped in some weird website that has viruses on it and it means that the computer that they use will broken inside. Don't you ever think that sometimes when we do good things in internet like for example create an organization to help poverty or famine in some country, but then there is some people hate it and they think that it's insulting them so they create group that protest that organization that makes other people believe it and actually it makes big impact to that organization, and that people who create it believe about it and finally disband the organization. In conclusion, don't ever start a thing in internet if we don't have clear and detailed informations about it because sometimes people jealous, hate it and they think that it's insulting them so they do something that makes huge impact to us. We can also protect ourselves from being hacked is to not start make trouble or create problems to other people in social networks because we don't know who is behind the anonymous or stranger right? Its better too if you don't add someone on social network that you don't even know who they are because they may be hacker or bad people that want to cyberbullying you or something.

From that website and my opinion, I founded out that all hacker want are money, revenge and having fun. Hacker sometimes do something bad that already uncontrollable like hack government bank account that makes that hacker receive lots of money. People also pay for hacker to hack their friend's computer because maybe they don't like them which is why revenge are exist. Because of technology improve rom year to year, cleverness of hacker also improve and the ability of their thinking are outside the box and think twice about how can they hack the computer without being notice to the victim.

Of course government allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep the society safe because why not right? it's better if the government do something that stand there and don't do nothing. People sometimes access and write something that makes big impact to their society like defamation to their own country. So it's better if government protect society.

Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online?
no.. because I think that it's private..

Not all website on the internet are safe. Usually there are lots of advertisement on the internet you can see, that can be one of the virus attack. How do we protect ourselves? We could protect ourselves by scanning virus on our computer at least 1-3 times a day.

After reading the article, I think the hackers want attention and money. Throughout the year, hackers does not aim for the same thing. Maybe the beginning, they hack people for fun or to see whether they really can hack or not. But as people are changing, people became more evil, they earn money in a bad way by hacking.

No they should not be allowed to hack. Why? because if government hack, they have to access people's computer and accessing people's computer without their permission is inappropriate. They can see our private fiels. The communities might also think that hacking is legal and they will learn how to hack. And if the government hacks, it just means that they won't be able to keep their people safe.

No I've never been hacked, well never been by strangers but once my friend hacked my computer for fun. He could access and control my laptop from his laptop Since that time, I change my password every 2 weeks.

My prediction: since technology is rising each year, people might be able to hack through phone *they can control your phone*.

Hacktivist group called Anonymous hacked the government websites to prevent government corruption, scientology and they against internet censorship. They are famous for like what people have known this websites for "illegal downloading website"; torrentz/torrents, pirate bay, etc and hacking the government websites to prevent internet pedophile/homophobias.
