1. The information in the internet can be true, but also false. Even in social media, people can make fraud profiles. Fraud profiles can lead to money loss or forgery. We can protect ourself by (for social media) not posting too much information about ourself. Just post photos and little information, if you want to give more, they have to ask more privately. (for public) Put copyright infringement so they cannot copy our things, also put a strong firewall to protect the website. Make your passwords impossible to guess.

2. [READ THE ARTICLE] - http://www.vpshosting.com/2011/07/freedom-organized-crime-evolution-hacking/

3. The first hackers was hacking for fun, for showing off, for helping others, no evil deeds. But since the internet grew older, the hackers becoming to have a negative thinking. Hackers now days are hacking to get money, to take money from companies, or make companies loose their money. From fun to evil! Well that escalated quickly!

4. Governments should hack too for safety reasons, as long as they get a warrant from the federal judge. If they don't have a warrant, the hack should be illegal. The hack should only lead to critical information the government needs, for example, to find corrupted people inside the government office.

5. I've been hacked before. My Facebook account was hacked. They hacker found my password somehow I don't know. He started to post pornographic videos using my account. I have to delete everything they post all the time. Then he messaged me saying if I want him to stop, I have to give him a ransom. I don't have the money therefore I changed my password and also deactivated my Facebook. Resulting no Facebook for me.

6. Like in the movies, hackers can be strong. In the future, hackers will hack the government database, changing everything they want. They can hack from the street lights on and off time, to hacking and transferring the governments money. Just like the movie "Die Hard 4.0". In the distant future, hacking will be done by the computer itself.

7. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57483998-83/dropbox-confirms-it-was-hacked-offers-users-help/
Dropbox was hacked, the hackers got username and passwords with a third party Websites. They started to send spam emails about casinos and gambling. Basically they got the accounts and they start to send spam advertising emails.

1 Information given to the Internet is not guaranteed and will never be guaranteed safe because there are many people that can access information through many ways. Although sometimes it seems impossible, hackers can find a way to access your information. It is very uncertain whether our information will be safe or not on the Internet. We must always be aware of the security on the Internet, they must have a strong authentication and surveillance system that will hold our information safe. It is also important to not give away our information to the Internet recklessly because information can lead to answers for the hackers.

3 Hackers have different motives. Some hackers want to steal money from other people, some hackers want to access people information, some hackers wants justice. There are many reason for hackers to hack. However, as days gone by there are more and more hackers with bad motives because the world has become more corrupt, creating more criminals and hacking is kind.

4 In my opinion government should be allow to hack just to keep the country safe. If the government is allowed to hack, then many criminals will be busted and the government will be able to stop hackers by hacking their computers. However, there are also danger of allowing the government to hack. There are possibilities that the employers for the government can hack to people's private information and selling it out to criminals. Therefore, there are a huge risk having the government to gain right for hacking. Also by allowing that, people's privacy will be accessible by the government, which can create another problem.

5 I have never been hacked before, but I have heard stories that people are hacked. An example of Mr. Honan, a journalist who got hacked because of Apple's and Amazon's weak authentication. The hacker was able to the hack through the victim's accounts due to the information given by the Amazon, which is only the last 4 digit number of the credit card. By that the hacker was able to hack through Apple, Gmail, and leading to all the victim's hardware. It was terrifying because only by that information, the hackers was able to access through the victim's iPhone and Mac.

6 In my opinion, the future will have more dangerous kinds of hacking as we can see how dangerous Stuxnet is. It starts destroying power plants. In the future there are more to come, not only laptops and computers that are in danger, but everything having to do with Internet and technology can be hacked and destroyed.

7 http://thehackernews.com/2012/09/chip-and-pin-payment-card-system.html, this article tells us that chip and PIN system are still vulnerable although it is much more secure than the magnetic strip system.

1. It's not safe because people on the internet can use our datas that we have easily. because whenever we post or upload something, it's on the internet and like in Facebook, they own the picture that you uploaded. We need to set everything in private and probably just upload things that you want to upload but at the same time, it's something that is safe, if someone decided to spread it out.

2. Read this article -> http://www.vpshosting.com/2011/07/freedom-organized-crime-evolution-hacking/

3. hackers just want to explore, like showing off and having fun, they don't have bad intention at all but nowadays,s there has been many things happening and many have changed their intention

4. The government shouldn't be allowed to hack other people's things because we want our own privacy and no one else should know what we are doing. But at the same time, I want the government to be allowed to hack other people like hackers, so the government can stop hacking from happening.

5. Yes, I have, last time, after 1 week, I opened my Facebook and there was a notification saying I just logged in at Los Angeles several hours ago, and meanwhile, I'm in my house just woke up in the morning.

6. It will be worst because poverty is happening everywhere, and people keep on being attracted by money, they keep on wanting more and more money. Hackers will aim for money and some countries defense system. And that will ruin everything.

7. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/social-media/Get-insured-against-hacking-on-Facebook-Twitter/articleshow/16448687.cms This is about a company that will insure your Facebook and twitter account, by just paying 3.99 pounds a month, The company will help you stopping any legal action triggered by hacking.

*How safe is information on the internet? What can we do to protect ourselves?
Nothing is safe once you put it on the Internet. It will last forever and even if you delete the information, it will be stored in some where else. For instance, Facebook does that. All the statuses, messages and photos that we put on Facebook stay there even after we delete them. And this is the whole point why we really really have to be careful when we decide to put something up online. I have seen many cases, especially those of celebrities, how their privacies are attacked because of the information that they put online. Have you ever "Googled" some one up? or how about yourself? The photos that you put years ago, or silly comments you made when you were in middle school can be easily found just with your username. It's really dangerous as it can not only damage your IT life but also your social life! Therefore we have to put a lot of effort to protect ourselves, and I think the first step to it is NOT to put any information that you don't wish others to look at years after.

*What do you think hackers want? How has it changed throughout the years?
At first, hackers were hippies! They wanted peace and love. They applied this idea to their hacking as well. And then, people began to hack in order to steal money from other people. And then, now some group like Anonymous hack huge companies like Wikileaks for many people's benefits.
When I think of the word "hackers", images of people with huge computers and geeky looking pop up in my head. But, what I think after the article is that that is not even really true. Even we can be hackers. We sometimes hack friends' Facebook account. And we hack expensive software programs, games and music to download them for free.

*Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?
I don't think it should work in that way. Even those government people are people. When they go out of their office, they're someone's parents and someone's friends. We can never trust anybody. I think later it might result in worse problems.

*Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have.
My first and last hacking experience happened when I was in grade 1! I must say I was quite bright in using computers and all. I had all different sorts of websites and personal blogs and stuff even when I was only 7 years old. But, since I was so young I was very gullible. So one day, i received an email saying that my passwords are too weak. It was from the "administrator" of the website. Because the email looked very real, and I had no information about hacking and all, I simply gave out my email address and password. In that account, I had many drawings that I made and songs that I composed with my sister. Also, I had some virtual items that decorate my website using real money. I think the hacker wanted that items and things that I paid for. So I tasted the bitterness of being hacked at a very young age, and until now I am trying to be really safe with whatever I do online.

*Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only taget computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?
Some people predict in the future, our bodies will have some kind of biochips. I think in the future it might be possible that they hack our personal information, such as our health information using the same technique!

There are uncertainties regarding to the information we found in the internet. We can search through a well-known website such as Wikipedia.org and find facts about something. Or we can go to an anonymous website and find fake information and eventually someone can send a virus. In social network websites random people can make fraud information about a certain someone and when they find someone they can try to hack through that person's profile and post fake information, which could eventually cause the original owner of the profile to suffer. There are definitely ways to prevent your profile from being hacked randomly, if the owner has posts too much information on his/her profile, it's more likely they will become the first victim. So the best way is to post general information and NOT private information such as telephone number, address, school, workplace, etc... Other way to prevent your sites/profiles from being hack is not to give obvious password or even encryption, if it's just a general password, hackers can guess it right away.

It's pretty uncertain what Hackers wanted, hacking someone's profile. But I assume they are doing it for fun, just like when you want to play games for fun. Hackers hack for fun, to rob the bank in the shadows, fraud people, they doing this for fun. And as technology improves, the greater the chance for hackers to hack, this is because they are getting smarter to think how to pierce through tight security information, such as using Stuxnet.

It will not be a problem if government were to hack through our personal website, they should be doing this for the citizen's safety, such as locating criminals and murderers. However to do this a license agreement needs to be signed otherwise doing this will not be legal.

Since my social networking profile is very little and I seldom update what I do, I've never been hacked before. But there is some people I know of that have been hacked terribly, I noticed that most of these people post too much information on what they do every day and because of this I make assumption on what I must do to prevent my network status from being hacked.

Eventually hackers can be so cunning and smart thanks to the constant development of technology, it's highly possible if they want to hack the government using Stuxnet, this already happen in Iran when American used this to spy on Iran's nuclear power plant.

I think it's not safe putting personal information and e-money on the internet, because if we got hacked by a person we can get embarrassed on the internet and also lost our e-money. So if we want to use the internet, don't put a lot of personal information and stuffs that may harm you.

What do you think hackers want? How has it changed throughout the years?
I think what hackers want are evil. Hackers are stealers because they are using us for making money and they also can harm us using the information they get from our personal information.

Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?
I say the government can hack as long it's for good reasons.

Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have.
I had ever been hacked before. My Facebook account was hacked by my friend because I tell him my password, then I report this to my teacher and finally I change my password and never tell it to anyone again.

Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only taget computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?
I am predicting that more people will can hack, and they can target phones and even systems.

1) Hacking is almost about everything these days, from petty theft, to spreading heinous terror to the people, but hacking is not to be confused with code cracking, this title got mixed up, and eventually the good hackers (the ones you need) get scrutinized.

2) I also have been doing some "'Research" into some code cracking and hacking, and eventually found out that the government also have been doing some hacking to preserve, their good name, we all have heard the news, that government have been hacking their own citizen's computer's, and observe potential dissidents.

3) So overall my opinion says that the hacking thing is bad, but if people use hacking for a good purpose, it might change the world in a positive way

1 Information in the internet, in general is not safe. Although they usually use passwords to protect your account, that is nowhere near enough to protect our information. Passwords can easily be hacked by hackers and they could go in and steal our account or information from it. Although hackers won't hack things that doesn't really have any value, you should always stay vigilant. Also you should avoid putting too many trust on internet protection because it's not really hack-proof. Well we normally would use passwords, but I don't really think it could protect our internet information. I also don't know much of ways to protect our information online, but for your local information, you could use firewall or antivirus programs. Antivirus is usually the most reliable as long as it is a good one. Antivirus can also warn us about dangerous things that we download.

3. I think hackers want to maximize the use of their abilities. If they could make a living by hacking, well I think they're thinking "Why not?". Although hackers can also protect us, well it may take a little longer to get money by doing it the correct way. Most things that humans do, in general are centered around money. Everything is about money, money is the thing that makes the world round. Hackers also want to make money, so they hack for it. Well in the past, hackers were just computer whiz that were showing off their abilities. Then they realize, that they could get a lot of money by hacking, so they started to hack for money. But now, they shut down websites to prevent them from making any money, so it's actually better than the 2nd generation of hackers.

4. Well that depends on the government, because people in general loathe the government. They usually distrust them, and I really don't agree on letting people we don't trust spying on people's everyday lives. They may cause more trouble because if they spy on the wrong people, they will get very angry. But if the government is actually trustworthy, and people are certain that they won't hack our personal information, I will say go for it. But nowadays I don't think anyone trusts the government anymore.

5. Yes I have, I had a game account that got hacked, and is now lost forever. I was naiive and told the hacker itself my ID and password under the delusion of him giving me some money. The next time I tried to log in, I immediately lost access and I was completely furious, because of my naiive mind and how he hacked it. The only value I have in that ID was it's massive experience, and luckily I did not put any money in that game. Well I now learned the lesson, to NEVER TRUST ANYONE FROM THE INTERNET and to keep my ID and password to myself. Although I made a new ID and actually amassed even more experience than my hacked ID.

6. Hacking in the future would probably be even more dangerous than today. People nowadays are starting to think about inserting chips in their bodies that contain all their money, personal information, etc. Well they would maybe hack that and steal everything and ruin that person's life.

Raga Ajisoko said...

1. Hacking is about stealing people money. And their privacy. There are hundreds of hacker steal money by hacking. They might hack big company such as AT&T, Nokia, Siemens, Verizon and many more. But sometimes hackers hack things just for fun. But majority they hack because they want the money. And this days, a lot of people put their money on the net. Which makes more hacker want to steal your money. Hackers might have stolen banks. Because now days there are online banking. Which was keeping your money online. So hackers will find out some way how to hack online banks.

2. Well if the government use "Hacking" to track down terrorist that will be fine for me. But if they were hacking just for fun, and messed up people accoun on the net. I would not agree that government allowed to hack.

3. I have aever been hacked. And I am so sad about it. And it was my Steam account. Steam account is a gaming account. They only able to use original games. And original games cost a lot of money. I have a lot of games in there and I also have a huge amount of money on my funds. So the hacker have been changed my password. When they gain access to my Steam account, they changed my username AND my e-mail. So there is no way that I would be able to get my account back. Because if I want to reset my pass, they will send the pass to the e-mail. But the hacker had changed the e-mail. So that account is gone now.

Internet is a place where you could get all kinds of informations through browsing thousands of websites. But as people evolve internet have gone really dangerous, because those evil code-crackers, could see your personal informations, and do stuff for their own personal monetary gain. These are hacking crimes, and we need to protect ourself by providing passwords and keep changing them. We shouldn't also post much about personal informations.

I think governments should be allowed to hack because they need to take notice if someone is trying to oppose the government, or to catch criminals easily. But to be sure, it have to be trusted governments. Because if the evil hands got into it, it would be dangerous.

Well, I never got hacked, because there weren't actually anything important that I put on the Internet.

In the future hackers could turn really bad and could turn into chaos, except if they figured out some new ways to prevent hackers. Or maybe, every companies, will each hire highly intelligent hackers to protect them.

1. The internet itself consist of many informations created by people. It's not always safe, but some may be valid too. There isn't any perfect way to defend ourselves from parts and information from the internet. The best way is just to choose our information carefully from the internet.

3. Honestly, I think Individual hackers hack for fun. I mean they don't have any particular reason to hack. Unless they are ready to be a criminal, then all they hack is people's account and other things. It affects people personally, but it doesn't affect the public. But then again, some hackers and organization that has hackers might have an objective.

4. I think governments are allowed to hack. Only for safety reason. Yes they can look into personal sites and profiles on social medias, but only if it is necessary. If it's not urgent, I don't think the government should monitor their citizens just for safety.

6. I think hacking would be as hard as today in the future. But, the range of hacking would be broader in the future. Even right now, almost every technology is connected to the internet.

1. How safe is information on the internet? What can we do to protect ourselves?
Information on the internet something not safe to do. Everyone can acces the internet and hack your personal stuff. Once your password got hacked people could take everything out there. Even in the social network is much hacking. The information on facebook and other social network can taken away by those hackers. You could protect yourself by not putting any personal information on the internet. Once it is in the internet people around the world can acces it.

3. What do you think hackers want? How has it changed throughout the years?
I think the hacker out there, they just want to do it just for fun. The Hackers don't have any aims for this. They just do it for fun and distracting people from their works. Some Hackers are looking for some information. Most of them wants to get creditcards number, account number, and the things that can help them in there life.

4. Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?
I would say they can or they should but they have a limit in the area where they can look. People should have a private stuff where the government are not allowed to see.

5. Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have.
I have a friend that got hacked in facebook. The hackers took some information on facebook and they have wrote things to his friends. There are many people who is hacking facebook's accounts. After people hack his account he immediately deactivate his acoount.

6. Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only taget computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?
In the future the hacking will be much worse. The hackers will be hacking other things than laptops and computers. The hackers will hack some bankaccounts, and maybe some cameras. The hackers will do everything to get more information from ourself. Maybe their targets will be too hacked the country documents.

7. Find another article related to hacking or internet safety and post the link on your blog with a short summary.

How safe is the internet? What can we do to protect ourselves?

I am definitely sure that the internet is not a very safe place if you aren't careful. The internet is a place where people can be whoever they want to be, and do whatever they want to do. You could be a whole different person in the internet if you wanted to, and no one would know. And sometimes when people become someone else, they can be dangerous to others. A mild, non-serious example is when someone hacks into your best friend's account and asks you things nobody else besides you and your best friend should know. But that is just the beginning. The danger called Hacking can be invincible-- if a virus or hacker is very powerful it could access anything anytime. Sometimes they could cause havoc to other people's lives, or even companies.

What we can do to stay safe in my opinion is to always hide your personal information away from the internet, where people could access it easily. But sometimes you might want to use them, like in Facebook. To prevent people from accessing more information that they should, you have Passwords. To be safe you should always keep your passwords to yourself, and NEVER use crappy simple passwords like "password". You always want your password to yourself.

Should the government be allowed to ‘hack’ in order to keep people safe?

It might sound unethical sometimes, but I think most of the times this action is necessary. There are countless of dangerous people in the internet that wants to cause trouble to other people. Sometimes they could rob people's bank accounts, steal their identities, or something even more serious than that. I think it's necessary for the government to hack. However, they should not go over the line. They shouldn't access very personal information for no reason, or hack into people's bank accounts and use their money. That is a pretty rare case, though.

Can you predict what hacking will be like in the future? Will it still only taget computers and laptops? What other targets could there be?

All I can predict is that hacking will become more and more powerful in the future, and more security methods will be needed for people in the internet. But maybe hackers won't target computers only later, maybe they will target cellphones, homes, credit card information--heck--maybe they'll be able to change your identity (eh that didn't make sense).

I Have you had any experiences with your data or passwords being compromised online? Describe any stories you have.

I personally never been hacked before. And I find it odd 'cause since i've started using the internet I have the same password for every account (dont worry! I've changed that now. I have moar passwordszz! :D ) But i've seen several people get hacked and scary stories told by other experienced people. I heard there was a virus that could entirely erase ALL the data on your computer. And I saw some people in the Deviantart community get hacked--resulting in their galleries getting screwed up and messeging the wrong things to the wrong people.
